Position Overview:
Brown City High School is seeking a dynamic and skilled Shop/CTE Teacher to join our secondary education team. This full-time position will serve students in grades 7 through 12 and deliver hands-on instruction in CAD, Woods, Metals, Auto, Algebra in Manufacturing, and Geometry in Construction. The ideal candidate will foster a safe, engaging, and career-focused learning environment that prepares students for future opportunities in skilled trades and engineering pathways.
Qualifications:
Candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria:
Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an Industrial Arts endorsement, or
Valid Career and Technical Education (CTE) certification in a related area, or
Eligible for or currently hold an Annual Occupational Authorization through the Michigan Department of Education, or
Experience in a skilled trades field
Preferred Experience:
Teaching experience at the middle or high school level
Practical experience in a shop, skilled trades, or engineering setting
Familiarity with integrating math and technical content in hands-on environments
Ability to work collaboratively with other staff to develop interdisciplinary projects
Key Responsibilities:
Provide instruction in technical and applied subjects including CAD, woodworking, metalworking, automotive, and integrated math applications
Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned curriculum
Maintain a safe and organized shop environment
Assess student progress and provide timely feedback
Participate in school and district professional development
Support career readiness and post-secondary planning for students
Contract Terms: This position will be covered under Brown City Federation of Teachers’ Union Contract, including salary schedule, benefits, and working conditions as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
